About this test

First, plainly: this test does not calculate your date of death. A real calculation of that kind is an actuarial model, built on mortality tables, a medical file and data this site doesn't have. What you get here is a lifestyle score out of 100, translated into estimated life-expectancy bands. It's an order of magnitude, not a deadline.

That said, the factors it asks about are the ones scientific literature documents most solidly. Smoking is the leading avoidable cause of death in high-income countries, well ahead of anything else. Physical inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle are among the main mortality risk factors identified by the World Health Organization. And social isolation — less intuitive — is associated across many studies with excess mortality comparable to several classic physical risk factors. Add sleep, diet, alcohol, chronic stress, medical follow-up, and road safety, where the seat belt remains the most effective measure ever made universal.

Eighteen questions, a score, a band. The tone here is light; the content isn't entirely. Most of what this test measures can be changed, and that's what makes it worth taking. If a question points you at a real health worry, no online test replaces an appointment with a doctor.
