About this test
Spotting the odd shape in a set is a visual-perception exercise found everywhere, from puzzle books to recruitment tests. What makes it interesting is that it is not solved by reading: a clear enough irregularity is detected at a glance, with no cell-by-cell inspection, while a difference that is too small forces you to compare items in pairs — and then the time it takes grows with the number of cells.
This game sits exactly on that tipping point. The first levels hand you coarse differences on a small grid, so the odd one announces itself. Then the grid grows and the gap narrows at every level, until you have no choice but to switch to a sequential search. The level where you break is roughly where your visual system gives up on automatic detection.
Three kinds of difference alternate: size, orientation and number of sides. Colour is deliberately constant — it is the shortcut everyone looks for first, and it is useless here. There is no diagnosis to draw from your score: this is an observation game that rewards method, not a measurement of your eyesight.
How it works
Each level fills a grid with identical polygons and exactly one that differs. The grid grows every two levels, from two cells a side up to six, and the gap between the odd shape and the rest shrinks by about sixteen percent per level. Tap or click the odd shape; any key starts the run. Three wrong answers end it, and your score is the level reached, capped at twenty-two.
